The massage session

Takes place at the practitionner’s office but can also be done at the owner’s home; the conditions of the animal will determine its location.

The session lasts on average of 30 to 40 minutes and can be performed at any time of the day, but at least 2 hours after the last meal.

The massage produces its beneficial and relaxing effects from the first session, but more sessions are often needed to accustom the dog to the manipulations and to give the body time to take “everything it needs”.

Regular sessions will increase the results and well-being of your pet, especially if the massage is aimed at relieving pathologies such as osteoarthritis, dysplasia, paresis …

The first session is a very important step:

Often shorter than the following ones because of the novelty for the dog. Your pet discovers new ways of being touched, which are unique to animal massage techniques.

You may find that the actual massage time is short, but this step is necessary for your pet to understand what the massage can do for him.

Over time, mutual trust is established between your pet and the practitioner, and it will be the pet itself  to request his massage when the practitionner will returns the next time.

If there is no contraindication, essential oils will be used to promote relaxation, hydrate the skin and nourish your pet’s coat.

Signs that the dog is enjoying the massage:

  • he lets himself go
  • he closes his eyes
  • he calmes down
  • he is falling asleep
  • he yawns
  • he leaves himself in the hands of the massage practitionner
